I made the decision about the origin of Glie sometime about September 2009, about roughly the first twenty-eight chapters had been completed. I wrote this chapter on 27 November 2009 and the following chapter the next day. On 6 December, I began to upload FHD Remix to, and watched this video while doing so:

Just a random hit on a Doom 3 gameplay video. I thought the song was cool, so looked it up the next day, 7 December 2009. I found this video by Scott Pagano to the song Antikythera Mechanism by Brian Transeau

Forty seconds in, I thought, hey, that looks an awful lot like Yaiba, and this is an awful lot like what I imagined the terrain was like just outside Glie (albeit, a little pulverized with all the Guardians and Mancubi walking around.) The moment at 2:45, when she reaches out and picks up the cube hit me like a tonne of bricks. I could not stop crying for an hour.

The pensierarte upload has been busted by Binary Acoustics (don't know why, since it was the lowest quality upload; maybe BA wants their stuff pirated only in HD, lol.) This is a higher quality upload of Scott Pagano's incredible video, The Antikythera Mechanism (this one uploaded by JeeeeDeeee.)

The real-life Antikythera Mechanism is depicted in reconstructed form here, and has some disturbing similarities to the Soul Cube's fictional history in FHD Remix:

Both the Soul Cube and the Antikythera Mechanism were lost for a long time and when discovered by archaeologists, it took them a while to figure out what it did. The parallels are remarkable. Remember in the following that the Soul Cube's history was created without any knowledge of the existence of the Antikythera Mechanism, and these dates are attributed to their authors, Matthew Costello (author of Doom 3's storyline) and Terry Wilson (author of FHD Remix, me.)

Soul Cube created 2341BCE (Terry Wilson); Antikythera Mechanism created 150BCE Soul Cube lost 2344BCE (Terry Wilson); Antikythera Mechanism lost 75BCE Soul Cube recovered 2104AD (Matthew Costello); Antikythera Mechanism recovered 1901AD Soul Cube reactivated 2145AD (Matthew Costello); Antikythera Mechanism reconstructed 2006AD

I'm not entirely certain that Matthew Costello was unaware of the Antikythera Mechanism, especially since it appears the "four stone tablets" in Doom 3 have some Greek text that looks almost like it could have been lifted from the Antikythera Mechanism. But, Doom 3 was released in 2004, and the text on the Antikythera Mechanism that resembles that found in Doom 3 was not revealed (they had to do some really fancy stuff with X-rays, multiple light source photography and computer programming/mathematics to read the text) until 2006, (stuff which resembles UAC's "proprietary pattern recognition software" mentioned in Doom 3.)

On 2009 July 21, I first noticed how alike an ornament in the final stage of Doom 3 was to the Communicator's mask in Haibane Renmei. The coincidences of Scott Pagano's video and the historical Antikythera Mechanism to FHD Remix and Doom 3 make that coincidence, remarkable as it was, seem insignificant. It seems as though the worlds of Haibane Renmei, Doom 3, Featherwing Love, and Scott Pagano's little video are pieces to some cosmic jigsaw puzzle; God showing His sense of humour!
