Short Summary

Reki is the only one awake after the New Year Festival, and she says goodbye to everyone. Rakka wakes up and follows her into her studio: Reki has painted its walls to resemble her dream. Rakka gives Reki her true name, and the story Washi included upsets Reki very strongly. She remembers her dream, and tells Rakka how she had been left alone before. She also tells Rakka that she only pretended to care for her, and ends up kicking her out. Reki confronts a young version of herself, while Rakka is sitting outside the studio and finds Reki's diary. She remembers Reki talking to her while she was in the cocoon, and Rakka decides return to the studio to try and save Reki.

Outside of Old Home, Reki says goodbye to Rakka and leaves into the Western Woods. As the other haibane join Rakka, they see the light of Reki's Day of Flight. Midori gives Hyouko a lemon soufflé from Reki.

Live goes on in Old Home, and Rakka finds two new cocoons.
