Spokesman for, and probable leader of, the Haibane Renmei.
It should be noted that 'Washi' (communicator, or speaker) Is a title, rather than a proper name. The name of the current washi, like those of all the renmei, is unknown. (see 'renmei' and 'true names') How the Washi is chosen from among the renmei, and wether there are any special requirements for the role, are also unknown. Although it may be a matter of seniority.

The current washi appears to be an elderly man. Like all members of the renmei he wears an elaborate ceremonial costume which identifies it's wearers function, while concealing thier identity.
