Yaiba was born Vanessa Bradford, possibly a descendant of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bradford John Bradford] whose life was very similar. (In the real universe, John Bradford is not known to have had any children.) The coincidence of name was not deliberate on my part, as I only discovered the similarities on 2015 December 21, six years after writing the story.
