''A flashback shows [[Reki]] hatching and being found by [[Nemu]] and [[Kuramori]]. Kuramori befriends Reki, takes her to [[Washi]], and gets sick trying to get the [[Black wing medicine|dye]] for Reki's wings. On her sickbed, Reki and Nemu finally make friends.''

[[Rakka]] is still sick. Reki goes to the [[Renmei temple]] to try and get help for Rakka, and Washi tells her she doesn't have much time left as a haibane. Reki can make a medicine for Rakka, and she recovers. When Rakka is summoned to the Renmei temple for punishment, [[Washi]] shows her how to her collect [[light flakes]], which will be her [[job]]. It begins to snow, and Reki encounters [[Hyouko]] and [[Midori]], who give her a package of pastries as apology to Rakka.
